ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the risk factors for incident endometrial injury and 3-month endometrial injury after magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound(MRgFUS)ablation of uterine fibroids(UF). Methods UF patients who were diagnosed in Peking Union Medical College Hospital and underwent MRgFUS ablation in Amcare Women's and Children's Hospital from August 2016 to October 2020 were retrospectively enrolled in this study.Clinical data of 66 UF patients were collected and compared between endometrial injury group and non-injury group.Stepwise regression was employed to determine the risk factors for the incident endometrial injury and 3-month endometrial injury.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the relationship of endometrial injury with age,pre-ablation tumor size, multiple UF,International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO)classification,T2WI signal intensity, and treatment time. Results In terms of incident endometrial injury, the 66 patients included 41(62.1%)cases with no injury,4 cases(6.1%) with grade 1 injury,5 cases(7.6%)with grade 2 injury, and 16 cases(24.2%)with grade 3 injury. In terms of 3-month endometrial injury, the 66 patients included 49 cases(74.2%)with no injury,5 cases(7.6%)with grade 1 injury,2 cases(3.0%)with grade 2 injury, and 10 cases(15.2%)with grade 3 injury.Stepwise regression analysis indicated that FIGO classification was significantly associated with incident endometrial injury(

ABSTRACT

AIM: To analysis of cataract prevalence and operation status in people aged 65 years old in the eastern Fengxian of Shanghai.?METHODS:In the period of January to December 2015, random stratified sampling in the whole group was taken in 3050 people over 65 years, in Situan and Fengcheng, two towns at the Eastern District of Fengxian Town. Ophthalmologic examination and questionnaire survey were given to those people, including slit lamp microscopy and visual acuity ( LogMAR ) and the conditions on cataract surgery.?RESULTS: Totally 1244 cases of cataract were found in 3050 subjects, the prevalence rate was 40. 79%. The prevalence rates in the subjects of different ages were different, as the age increases, the prevalence rate was rising. The difference of prevalence rate in different age groups was statistically significant (x2=558. 6, P<0. 001);the prevalence rate of male and female were 31. 06% and 49. 94%, the difference was statistically significant ( x2 =112. 4, P<0. 001 ); the rate of illiterate and literate was 52. 04% and 38. 76% respectively with significantly difference (x2 = 28. 78, P<0. 001). Cataract surgery was taken in 765 cases, surgical coverage rate was 61. 25%;difference on age, gender was not statistically significant;the degree of education: the rate in literate was significantly far higher than in the illiterate, the difference was statistically significant ( x2 = 39. 72, P < 0. 001 ). Postoperative corrected visual acuity ≥ 0. 3 was considered as removing from disable and postoperative corrected visual acuity≥0. 05 as removing from the blind. The rate removing from disable was 71. 50%, the rate removing from the blind was 95. 29%. In 765 eyes receiving surgery, postoperative complications occurred in 29 eyes, 3. 79% of the total eye receiving surgery.?CONCLUSION: Cataract is the common blind causing disease in the elderly, and the prevalence rate of cataract in eastern Fengxian of Shanghai is high. Although in recent years, the Restoring Vision Project has been developed, the surgical coverage has been improved, and the prevention and control of cataract is still the primary task of blind prevention.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the efficacy of ganoderma lucidum preparation(Ling Zhi) in treating APP/PS-1 transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer's disease(AD).Methods APP/PS-1 transgenic mice of 4 months were randomly divided into model group, ganoderma lucidum treatment groups, including high [2250 mg/(kg·d)] and middle [750 mg/(kg·d)] dose groups,i.e.LZ-H and LZ-M groups, and the positive control group(treated with donepezil hydrochloride [2 mg/(kg·d)]).In addition,C57BL/6J wild mice were selected as normal group. The animals were administered for 4 months.Histopathological examinations including hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining, immunohistochemistry, special staining, and electron microscopy were applied, and then the pathological morphology and structures in different groups were compared. Results The senile plaques and neurofibrillar tangles in the cerebrum and cerebellum were dissolved or disappeared in LZ-H and LZ-M groups.Decrease of amyloid angiopathy was found in LZ-H and LZ-M groups. The immature neurons appeared more in hippocampus and dentate nucleus of LZ-H and LZ-M groups than those in AD model and donepezil hydrochloride groups(hippcampus:F=1.738,P=0.016;dentate nucleus:F=1.924,P=0.026),and these immature neurons differentiated to be neurons.More Purkinje cells loss occurred in AD model mice than that in LZ-H and LZ-M groups(F=9.46,P=0.007;F=9.46,P=0.010).The LZ-H and LZ-M groups had more new neuron stem cells grown up in cerebellum.Electromicroscopic examination showed the hippocampal neurons in LZ-H and LZ-M group were integrated, the nuclear membrane was intact, and the mitochondria in the cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum,Golgi bodies, microtubules, and synapses were also complete. The microglial cell showed no abnormality. No toxicity appeared in the pathological specimens of mice treated with ganoderma lucidum preparation. Conclusion The ganoderma lucidum preparation can dissolve and decline or dismiss the senile plaques and neurofibrillar tangles in the brain of AD mice and also reduce the amyloid angiopathy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the cadmium level of main food, and to preliminarily assess the risk of dietary cadmium exposure among residents in Yantai. Methods A total of 925 samples of 10 kinds of food groups were collected from 14 counties (or districts)of Yantai.Cadmium contents in food were determined according to GB/T 5009.15—2003,and then the provisional tolerable monthly intake (PTMI)and the margins of safety(MOS)of cadmium were calculated by combining the concentration of cadmium in foods with food consumption data. Results The concentration of cadmium in 10 kinds of food groups was 26.47 μg/kg.The concentration of cadmium in sea foods was 92.48 μg/kg,and that was the highest among the 10 kinds of food groups. The concentration of cadmium in pluck, flour and vegetables were 47.35,33.25, 18.87 μg/kg respectively.Monthly dietary cadmium exposure quantity of flour, sea food, vegetable and rice was 295.70 μg,38.11 μg,32.09 μg and 10.87 μg,respectively.Flour as a most important contributor, contributed 76.09% of the total dietary cadmium exposure. Conclusion The average dietary cadmium exposure from the main food did not exceed the PTMI and the MOS was more than 1,so the level of dietary cadmium exposure is safe. However, based on the largest consumption of flour in Yantai and the high contribution rate of flour of dietary cadmium exposure, more attention should be paid to the possible cadmium contaminated wheat.

ABSTRACT

The hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic effects of two dietary dosages (0.1% and 0.5%) of water and 80% ethanol extracts from hot-air dried Orostachys japonicus A. Berger were evaluated in the serum and organ tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The STZ-induced diabetic groups supplemented with the O. japonicus extracts showed significantly higher body weight compared to a diabetic control group at the end of experiment. The extracts exhibited substantial hypoglycemic effects by significant reductions of fasting blood glucose levels at all time points tested compared to the initial stage before treatment of the extracts. Declines of serum and hepatic triglyceride levels were greater than declines of total cholesterol in the groups treated with the 0.5% O. japonicus extract (DBW2 and DBE2) when compared to the DBC group. Hepatic glycogen content was higher in the groups treated with O. japonicus extract, while lipid peroxide content was decreased in these treated groups compared to the DBC group. Hepatic antioxidant activity was significantly increased in the groups supplemented with the O. japonicus ethanol extract. The hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic effects of the O. japonicus ethanol extract were significantly greater than the effects of the water extract. Based on this study, it seems that O. japonicus ethanol extract, due to its higher phenolic and flavonoid components than the water extract, may control blood glucose and alleviate hyperlipidemia in diabetes.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To provide a new manufacturing method for the artificial seeds of Dendrobium officinale. Methods: The artificial seeds were manufactured by taking protocorms of D. officinale as the materials entrapped with the consideration of the effects of testa components and artificial endosperm on the germination and seedling of the artificial seeds. Results: The better conditions of the artificial seeds are manufactured in the fundamental artificial endosperm made by MS + 0.5 mg/L BA + 0.5 mg/L NAA +3 g/L AC + 30 g/L sodium alginate + 3 g/L chlorothalonil mixture reacted in 2% CaCl2 for 15 min; For the higher germination and seedling rate, 15 g/L cassava starch and 10 g/L water retaining agent can be added into the artificial endosperm components, respectively; For the higher germination rate, 10 g/L nano-SiO 2 (better planting rate) and 10 g/L Nano-TiO2 can be added into the artificial testa, respectively. The highest seedling rate was obtained by adding 10 g/L nano-SiO2. Conclusion: A manufacturing method of the artificial seeds of D. officinale has been established for the higher germination and seedling rates.
